Document Management System Implementation
Background
CITIBANK was in the process of evaluating and selecting
an appropriate Document Management package that would best fit into
their enterprise-wide corporate environment. Selecting and implementing
a new Document Management package will have a major impact on most parts
of the enterprise. It was therefore critical that the entire process was
managed correctly, from beginning to end, in order to ensure a
successful implementation.
By working together with Wability Inc., CITIBANK enjoyed the benefits of
retaining senior level consultants who have successfully guided many
major corporations through the often-complex process of selecting and
implementing appropriate DM packages.
Wability, a business and technology solutions company, was asked to
prepare a proposal outlining a comprehensive approach and methodology to
assist CITIBANK with this project.
Implementation
Wability used its proprietary DM package evaluation
process in order to assume a potential DM enterprise solution suitable
for CITIBANK. Due to the limited information that was available to us,
we made multiple assumptions in answering the required questions based
on our understanding of the industry, our understanding of specific
requirements of a global DM implementation and our limited knowledge of
CITIBANK ’s business practices.
Assumptions were made in the following areas: industry, annual revenues,
number of employees, budget requirements, localization, language
requirements, manufacturing environment, functionality requirements,
structural requirements, server platform, integration, industry
standards and thin client access. Another set of assumptions were made
to define the required modules and their importance.
At the end of this exercise, we produced a table summarizing the DM
solutions that matched the assumed requirements and solutions that in
turn failed to match the requirements. Examples of software packages
that passed the requirements included FileNet and Documentum.
