Technology - Network Practice

Today, a company’s communications network is critical to its ability to conduct business and maintain a competitive edge. For most companies, it is accurate to state that “the network is the business”. In the current economic environment, companies are seeking ways to extend the life of their existing voice and data networks while reducing operational costs. At the same time, companies recognize the need to be positioned to take advantage of high speed, multimedia services based on emerging packet-based technologies. These objectives must often be accomplished with a minimum of in-house staff.

As the incumbent consultant, Wability will be in a strong position to identify and secure network business and realize incremental revenue in its customer base.

New prospects in Wability ’s target markets also represent a major opportunity to sell network services. Networking is a key area that Wability will be able to discuss up front as part of a complete solution including other Wability services.

Additional opportunities will be based on referrals from the network service companies and consultants contracted by and partnering with Wability. Partners who provide network services will refer Wability for management consulting services.

Direct marketing programs may be utilized to approach new prospects consistent with Wability ’s overall business strategy.

Appendix A

1. WAN Value Analysis

The WAN Value Analysis consists of reviewing a client’s current Telco bills to assure proper billing. This analysis also confirms that the WAN services being procured are optimized for maximum value to the client. The result of this analysis is a report that will assist the client in correcting any billing errors or canceling or modifying any services that are providing no value or little value.

Examples:

A large regional drugstore chain requested an audit of their private line
network covering stores in several states in the eastern US. The audit
uncovered an erroneous Interstate Access charge of $8,000 per month. The
audit portion of the work performed for the client was $25,000. The cost of the audit was recovered with three months of billing savings.

A client was leasing T1 private lines between two locations within the
same state. The charges totaled thousands of dollars per month. An audit determined that several of the intrastate lines should have been billed at an interstate rate, which reduced the monthly costs by 50%.

A study performed for a client revealed that the data network supporting sales of advertising could achieve improved performance by a factor of 4 with no additional increase in monthly charges.

An analysis of voice network billing can show how additional savings can be achieved by procuring the proper mix of public and virtual public voice services. Savings of 25% to 50% of the cost of voice services can be realized if the network has not been frequently evaluated for efficiency.

2. Service Integration Analysis

The Service Integration Analysis consists of reviewing all of a client’s existing networks to determine if there are significant economic advantages to be achieved by combining independent voice, data and video networks. The result of this analysis is a report summarizing the client’s existing networks and potential benefits of integrating some or all of the independent networks into a single multi-media network.

Example:

Many clients operate independent networks to support different media such as
voice and data. A network study will often reveal that combining the two
networks will result in saving the recurring costs of one of the networks. The study will also document the investment in technology (non-recurring cost) required to combine the networks. The final study report will provide a clear understanding of the economic advantage of implementing a new multi-media network to replace the separate networks.
